Series 5 · five-star bases

Five-star chair bases

The base carries the whole chair and every newton the user puts into it. We cast, mould and weld it in three materials so you can match cost, finish and load grade to the chair.

Three materials, one fit

All our bases share the chair-standard Ø50 taper column bore and Ø11/Ø10 castor sockets, so they swap into a normal chair build. What changes is the material: pressure-cast aluminium (ADC12) for the premium polished or powder-coated executive look; 30% glass-filled nylon for a light, rust-free, cost-effective volume base; and welded steel for heavy-duty and 24/7 seating where you want maximum strength and a chrome finish.

Span is typically 660–700 mm. Every base is leg- and drop-tested to BIFMA-style references before it ships.

Common questions

What is the column bore?
All bases use the chair-standard Ø50 taper bore (1:10), so they accept a standard gas-lift cylinder.
Polished or powder-coated aluminium?
Both. Polished gives the bright executive finish; powder-coat is more scratch-tolerant and available in your colour. We will advise based on the chair’s price point.
Which base is most cost-effective at volume?
The glass-filled nylon ZT-N680 — it is light, corrosion-free and the lowest landed cost for high-volume office chairs, with a BIFMA-tested load rating.
